It’s our birthday!
In this week’s blog, we’re excited to re-cap some of our greatest milestones and challenges over the past 10 years, and to share who we are today, and where we’re headed.
In the early days, Cameron partnered with an industry colleague Jason Craik to form what was first conceived as “McNeill and Craik” Real Estate Solutions (our name was shortened to MAC Marketing Solutions a year later.) The young duo started MAC’s journey right here in Vancouver, marketing and selling major residential high-rise developments like Brava in Downtown and FlatIron in Coal Harbour. As well, they took on a multi-phased waterfront development in Steveston (Richmond) called Imperial Landing.
In 2005, the pair founded MPC Intelligence, a real estate research firm. During this time, they continued to grow MAC launching several more high-profile projects throughout BC and Alberta.
In 2006, MAC reached a milestone, selling $300 million that year and making a stake as one of the top real estate marketers in BC. The following year, Jason decided that he wanted to pursue his family’s development business in the US, and Cameron took the helm in 2007, when he was also named “Marketer of the Year” by BC Homes Magazine.
As we all know, the world “crashed” by fall of 2008 and we were all left to navigate the turbulent waters of the economy at that time. We saw many of our colleagues close down or scale back dramatically. Responding to these new market conditions, “MAC Bulk” was developed, a liquidation style business model which aided in standing inventory for several local developers throughout BC and Calgary. The program was a resounding success and resulted in over $110 million of sales in just four months. Some people credit this program for helping to ‘jump-start’ the Vancouver real estate market after the crash.
Despite the market conditions of 2008, Cameron also successfully launched TAC Real Estate, a boutique residential real estate brokerage with about a dozen brokers representing a “trusted and committed” approach to selling residential re-sale real estate. With the return of a more balanced market in 2010, Cameron focused on growing MAC, securing new well-established developers such as Bosa Development and Mosaic Homes while maintaining longstanding clients like Cressey Development Group and Grosvenor.
Today, MAC has grown to a team of over 35 marketing, research and administration staff plus over 35 sales professionals. We have sold over 12,000 homes and transacted well in excess of $4 billion in real estate.
In order to continue to grow our team, we are excited to announce that the MAC head offices are moving to a new location effective November 1st. Although we are not moving too far (just four blocks North on Homer Street), we will have a newer, bigger, and brighter office for our team to continue to offer our clients the best possible services.
As a professional services company, our goal has never waivered. We will always offer excellence in marketing and sales service, and will always put our clients first. We will continue to offer our trademarked services including MAC ESPTM, MAC EngineTM, MAC ForceTM and MAC Customer Care TM and to treat each project and each client as they should be treated – unique and special. We are extremely proud to be working with some of Western Canada’s most respected residential developers including Amacon, Cressey Development Group, Beedie Living, Bosa Development Corp, Embassy, Grosvenor, Citimark, Kenstone Properties and many others. We look forward to continued relationships with these high quality builders and developers to ultimately provide great homes for people.
In the next 10 years, we will continue to pride ourselves on our spirit, our culture and our “mojo”. We are one of the best places to work, and are proud of the people who make up MAC. We will always respect our clients, our partners, our suppliers and each other and are excited every day to work with others who share our passion for excellence.
Happy Birthday MAC. You’re 10 years old now, and we’re very proud of who you’ve become.
Love,
The Entire MAC Family
