Vancouver is well known for its tall and glimmering towers and as density continues to shift we are seeing more and more city centres being developed in Metrotown, Brentwood, Richmond City Centre, and even Surrey. At MAC, although we certainly have contributed to some of these tall towers, we also get to participate in smaller new developments that sometimes don’t get the same attention as the towers but are often even more special than the larger new developments.
We often call these smaller scale new communities “boutique” because by definition boutique can refer to a “small specialist store”. These smaller communities are no different often offering you a unique home unlike others in the neighbourhood, with superior attention to detail catering to a specific type of buyer who values quality and individuality. In the past we have had the honour of working on specialized homes in West Point Gray, and high-end residences in Calgary. These communities can sometimes be overlooked by buyers because they can be harder to find. In my experience, these boutique buildings become exceptional places to call home as those that live here tend to have a true passion for their home and keep it very well maintained. When going against the cook-cutter mold, these homes can often stand the test of time making them sought after by buyers years down the road – think of the famous Waterfall Building just outside of Granville Island with only 32 homes and designed by Arthur Erickson. All of this makes for a really solid long-term investment if you can ever convince yourself to move out.
If living in a boutique building is of interest to you, connect with your Realtor who can help you on your search. Alternatively, simply drive through some of your favourite neighbourhoods and you will be amazed at what you can find.
