Easy Fall Updates to Your Home

October 4, 2011

As the weather turns cooler, and we begin to spend more time indoors, many people like to refresh their décor and invest in some fresh furnishings. With a few new pieces, your home can quickly and easily be updated. And for the budget conscious, you don’t have to spend a ton of money either!
Here are a few of the trends that are attracting headlines this fall:

  1. Wood – rich tones bring a warmth, coziness and sense of welcome to your home. This can be achieved by incorporating wooden accessories into your home, such as a mirror with rustic wood frame, or adding a new piece of furniture such as a storage unit or dresser.
  2. Thinking of a fresh coat of paint? There are more to neutrals than just grey or beige. Typically when you consider neutrals, greys, beiges and off- whites are the first hues that come to mind. But there are some new options that may be worth considering – pale lilac, soft sage green and taupe are also great base neutrals that allow for a variety of options for furniture colors.
  3. Modern Global – this trend balances natural materials, rich colour palettes, and exotic textures to create a look with a worldly aesthetic. You don’t have to be well traveled to successfully achieve this look thanks to retailers that offer accessories that you can purchase right here at home. Try Pier One Imports, Moe’s or Pottery Barn, for a great selection of accessories.

Are you making any updates to your home this Fall? We’d love to know which if these trends you tried out in your own home.
