Westside Boutique Living – Uncover a gem
Most of us are quite aware of all the activity happening along the Cambie Corridor (over 20 developments are currently actively marketing or selling). From Southeast False Creek, to Oakridge and all the way to Marine Drive, Cambie Street is undergoing a major development shift. What is less discussed is the infill happening west of the Cambie corridor. Single family homes are continuing to be parceled together or subdivided for more boutique communities of higher density. Townhome communities and low to mid rise developments are popping up throughout the Westside providing people with more (somewhat) affordable options.
In Kerrisdale there have been several new communities such as Sterling by Cressey with 37 homes, Kerrisdale Gardens with 26 homes and Shannon Station with 18 homes. Going slightly further west is 55 Dunbar with 30 homes and soon to be selling The Ivy at Dunbar and 27th with 50 homes. Near Granville Street you will find Italia with 49 homes coming soon and 1555 West 8th with a total of 20 homes about 50% sold. Shannon Wall Centre represents one of the larger communities west of the Cambie corridor with multiple phases and several hundred homes. Also near Granville you will find new communities such as Oak + Park with 41 townhomes coming soon and The Leveson also coming soon with 40 homes.
So what does all this mean and why do you care? The Westside is obviously well built out but these new smaller, infill opportunities are great ways to get into the market on the Westside for less than the benchmark single family price of almost three million dollars. These boutique offerings don’t often get a lot of attention, especially with so much focus on larger development hubs and taller towers. However, these hidden gems can offer a really unique and special living experience. So, if you’re interested, you will likely need to drive around the Westside neighbourhood or work with a realtor to uncover these great opportunities.
